Scoliosis specific physical therapy also know PSSE for patients with scoliosis, kyphosis and other spinal, ribcage and respiratory abnormalities. Schroth was the original term used to describe this type of scoliosis-specific exercise. However, over the past 100 years, research and treatment techniques have continued to evolve, and the approach is now more commonly referred to as the Rigo Method. The Rigo Method evolved from the original Schroth approach as advances in medical technology provided a greater understanding of the three-dimensional nature of scoliosis. Over the past century, research and clinical experience have led to more detailed curve classifications and individualized corrective strategies that address each person’s unique spinal alignment and movement patterns. The Rigo Method combines these advancements with principles of posture, muscle activation, and expansion to provide a highly individualized approach to scoliosis-specific exercise.
